Some of the best coffee origins are born from adversity. In 1975, a catastrophic black frost swept through Paraná — then Brazil's dominant coffee region — and forced thousands of growers to start over. Many moved north to the Cerrado plateau of Minas Gerais, and what followed was one of the quiet transformation stories of the coffee world. Today, the Cerrado Mineiro is Brazil's first region to earn a protected designation of origin, with over 4,500 growers farming 175,000 hectares of the distinctive red clay soil the locals call Terra Roxa. That iron-rich earth, combined with reliable seasonal rains, high daytime temperatures, and reliably dry winters, creates a climate of almost agricultural predictability — the kind that produces consistent, expressive coffee year after year. The region now yields between 5.5 and 6 million bags annually, making it not just a footnote in Brazilian coffee history, but one of its defining chapters.
Our Brazil coffee is sourced from this storied plateau — a coffee that carries the character of red earth, open skies, and nearly fifty years of hard-won expertise.
